Over the past few months, my roommates, Shawna Helmuth, Madisyn Kephart, and I had the opportunity to collaborate on research alongside The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Mayo Clinic to contribute to finding a cause to Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), of which there is no known cause or cure. We were able to participate in the 2019 Mayo Clinic IMPACT symposium, CERCA Research Day, and the 5th annual WiSys Quick Pitch Competition and share our hypothesis on the topic. We've had some people ask about our research, so I thought I'd post it here for people who are interested in viewing our poster or paper! This hypothesis is novel, meaning it has not been proposed before. In no way are we claiming that our hypothesis is the direct cause of this congenital heart disease, but we hope our research will be a step forward in the right direction to finding a cure.

Additionally, we would like to give a huge thank you to Jeanette Olsen, Ph.D., RN, for her guidance on our project.

We hope you learn a thing or two from our research below!
